Specific subject description
Research and education in human geography deals with social, cultural, political and economic processes of change and their spatial expressions and consequences for people at different scales, whether local, regional or global. One longstanding area of research and teaching within the Human Geography department encompasses cultural geography, for example research and education in landscape, political ecology and humanistic geography.

Job assignments
The post comprises teaching and research in Human Geography, with a focus on cultural geography, for example landscape, political ecology and humanistic geography. The position contains 20% of government-funded research time, with the possibility of expanding the share of research to 75% through external funding. The remainder of the position is devoted to teaching and administration. In addition to conducting high-quality research and education in cultural geography, the successful candidate is expected to be able to take responsibility for the development and administration of study programs and courses in the field of human geography broadly speaking.

Eligibility/Entry Requirements
To qualify for appointment as a senior lecturer, you must have been awarded a PhD in Human Geography or have the corresponding research competence. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate documented teaching competence. The criteria for assessment of applications are a good ability to develop and carry out research of high quality, and teaching competence. Further qualifications are experience of developing and administering education, e.g. as program or course director, and the ability to compete for external research funding. An additional requirement is the ability to teach in English.

Applicants are required to have completed five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning, or have acquired the equivalent knowledge. In special circumstances, some of the training in higher education teaching and learning may be conducted during the first year of employment.

Research and teaching experience in one or more fields of relevance to the post’s specialization in cultural geography, for example landscape, political ecology, and humanistic geography, is particularly desirable. The ability to assign teaching and administrative tasks in courses/programs in Human geography more broadly is an additional qualification as well as the experience of developing and administering education, e.g. as program or course director, and the ability to compete successfully for external research funding.
