CEC is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow within DrivenByPollinators, a five-year ERC project on the effect of landscape-scale land-use intensity on grassland plant communities and ecosystem functioning as mediated by pollinators and herbivores. The Postdoc will have a leading role in the field-based and experimental parts of the project, which will also employ two PhD students as well as taxonomic experts, and participate in the synthesis of the projects findings.

Qualifications
Requirements

  • PhD in biology, ecology, environmental sciences or similar
  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of biodiversity and ecosystem functioning
  • Significant experience with both field-based and experimental mesocosm studies
  • Significant experience working with quantitative ecological methods, in R or similar
  • Skills in performing literature synthesis
  • Skills in GIS (QGIS, ArcGIS or similar)
  • A good scientific publication record
  • Excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Excellent organisational and time-keeping skills
  • Driving license (car & light truck)

Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant have a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the last date for application. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree could have been completed earlier.

Fixed-term contract for 2 years.

The most important criterion for evaluating the applicants will be scientific skill. Personal suitability for the project will be of importance.
