The division of molecular medicine and gene therapy are now recruiting a Postdoctor that will work with various research projects during 2 years. The division focuses on hematology, hematopoiesis, the regulation of hematopoietic stem cells and the development of cell and gene therapy for blood disorders. The position is time limited to 2 years with a start in January or in accordance with agreement.

Work duties and areas of responsibility

The position contains work on the development of gene therapy for Diamond blackfan anemia, a bone marrow failure syndrome. Lentiviral vectors containing the ribosomal protein S19 (RPS19) will be used to correct the genetic deficiency of RPS19 in a mouse model. The goal is to cure the disease in mice using vectors that can later be used in the clinic to cure patients with RPS19 deficient Diamond Blackfan anemia.

Requirements

The following is required for the position:

  • A PhD degree in biology, molecular or cellular biology or a closely related field.
  • Knowledge and experience in hematopoiesis, bone marrow transplantation in experimental animals.
  • Knowledge of the use of lentiviral vectors for gene therapy of hematopoietic stem cells.
  • The ability to work independently in the laboratory.
  • The ability to communicate well with co-workers and to collaborate with other scientists.

Emphasis is put on personal suitability.

Desirable

The following is desirable for the position:

  • Postdoctoral experience in hematopoiesis and gene therapy of hematopoietic stem cells.
  • Experience in bone marrow transplantation of experimental animals.
