The Department of Clinical Sciences, Malmö, Genetic and Molecular Epidemiology, hereby announces the appointment of a full-time research coordinator for two years.
The Unit currently hosts several doctoral students, post-docs and junior faculty. The Unit seeks to fill one or more new appointments in the fields of statistical genetics, bioinformatics, and/or biostatistics. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to work in a support role to the group leader (Prof. Franks) and other members of his team within a range of projects, including those conducted solely by the GAME Unit through large-scale international collaborations.
International travel for training, conferences and project meetings will be necessary.
Work duties
We are looking for a project coordinator/laboratory manager. The successful applicant will have a strong background in biomedical sciences, especially in areas germane to human clinical studies, large databases and multicenter/international collaborations. The successful applicant will have published scientific peer-reviewed papers and acquired research grants, but will be interested in stepping away from the standard academic track into a role where they will provide support to a thriving research unit. An aptitude for planning, coordination and management of research activities. Excellence in scientific communication (written and spoken English) and in personnel management are essential. Experience working in public-private partnerships will be a significant advantage.
- organizing workshops and meetings
- helping ensure that grant applications and publications are well-written and submitted in a timely manner
- attending scientific meetings, recording minutes and feeding these back to the unit leader
- drafting scientific progress reports
Qualifications
Essential characteristics:
- A PhD in biomedical sciences
- Record of publication in good-to-excellent peer reviewed journals
- At least 2-years post-doctoral experience working in biomedicine
- Excellent written and spoken English language skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal skills
