Introduction text:
Lund University has been always ranked among the top 100 universities in the world. Lund University GIS Centre at the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science is one of the World’s leading centres in the field of Geographical Information Science. Besides strong scientific networks in Sweden, the centre has large international networks in Europe, USA, Australia, Africa, Middle East, and Central Asia. GIS Centre has been involved in several national and international projects funded or supported by e.g EU, Swedish research agencies, and international organizations such as WHO. The GIS Centre is going to expand its research activities in the area of climate change modelling using spatiotemporal analysis and machine learning. It includes combining machine learning with existing Dynamic Vegetation Models, mainly LPJ-GUESS to improve estimates of terrestrial carbon fluxes. The aim of this call is to employ a researcher with a very high scientific competence to join our research group and increase the quality of research by produce more/better results.

Jobassignment:
The main duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • conduct research and publish in high-quality
  • present and discuss novel ideas to the research group
  • present research results to the wider research community
  • contribute to training, scientific mentoring and supervision of PhD and master

develop useful timelines and milestones based on the goals of the research and development programs.

Desirable skills and qualifications:

    • PhD in Geomatics, Geographic Information Science, computer science, information technology or a closely related
    • demonstrated experience with GIS, spatiotemporal analysis and/or machine learning techniques
    • having knowledge or experience in climate change- or ecosystem-related studies is an advantage
    • track record of publications in the field
    • ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, including those within a multi-disciplinary grouexcellent command of Englis proficiency in programming languages and technologies such as Python, R andjs.contribute to the development of proposals to apply for research projects.
