Introduction text:
The position is for a researcher for two years to work within the EU financed project CROSSDRO that aims at cross-sectoral analysis of drought imact on nature and society. The analysis focuses impact on vegetation, and is carried out in collaboration with four international partners. At Lund University, the analysis of satellite data at two scales is focused: Europe, and chosen drainage basins.

Jobassignment:
The researcher will work with analysis of time series of remotely sensed data (MODIS, Landsat, Sentinel-2 etc.) to study impacts of drough on European level and in higher detail for chosen drainage basins. Also data reflecting geographical conditions (topography, land cover) and weather variations (precipitation, temperature, evaporation) and societal relationships (infrastructure, land use) are included in order to develop explanatory models for drought sensitivity, drough impact and drought resilience. Changes in dynamic vegetation response (phenology, productivity) and effects on water resources and carbon balance are important components.

Necessary qualifications are:

  • Basic university education (BSc, MSc) with a large component of geomatics (GIS, remote sensing, spatial analysis, computer analysis)
  • Doctoral degree with specialization on remote sensing of vegetation. The applicant shall have experience in analysis of time series data for dynamic vegetation studies and analysis of biological productivity (e.g. phenology, carbon uptake etc.), as well as weather and climate data.

The applicant needs to be experienced in computer tools for analysis of spatial data (GIS, image analysis, statistics, computer programming), and have good experience in international scientific publication, and good ability to communicate orally and in writing. Experience in independent research work, in the form of post doctoral research or project management, is a merit.
