The Division of Molecular Hematology is part of the Lund Stem Cell Center, a strategic center of excellence in life science, with a strong international position in the area of blood stem cell biology. We are seeking a research engineer to assist in various projects for 2 years.

Work duties and areas of responsibility

We are seeking a highly motivated and ambitious research engineer with a strong background in mass spectrometry-based proteomics to join the laboratory of Dr. Jenny Hansson. The research engineer will prepare samples for mass spectrometric analysis and apply advanced mass spectrometric approaches. The research engineer is expected to implement and improve innovative methods within especially cellular proteomics, as well as have responsibility for maintenance and service of the mass spectrometer (Exploris 480). The research engineer will work in close collaboration with the other members of the research group. The research engineer will also communicate with collaboration partners outside of the research group, regarding project planning as well as reporting of results.

The research engineer is expected to follow the development of mass spectrometry-based proteomics by frequent attendance to international conferences and workshops. Requirements

The following qualifications are required for the position:

  • Master of Science in technical biology, analytical chemistry, molecular biology, biomedicine, cell biology, or similar.
  • The applicant should be well experienced with mass spectrometry-based proteomics, including:

    • Practical experience with preparation of biological samples for mass spectrometric analysis
    • Good theoretical knowledge in advanced mass spectrometry
    • Experience with modern quantitative proteomic analysis
    • Basic knowledge in bioinformatics, with emphasis on analysis of proteomic data
    • Good communicative ability in English
    • A good sense of order in a research laboratory
  • The applicant should be responsible, quality conscious, structured as well as have a good cooperative ability and willingness to learn new things.

Emphasis will be put on personal suitability for the position.

Desirable

The following qualifications are desirable for the position:

  • PhD in proteomics.
  • Practical experience in trouble shooting, maintenance and service of chromatography and mass spectrometric equipment
  • Experience with analysis of post-translational modifications
  • Experience with data independent acquisition
  • Familiarity with immunopeptidomic analysis
  • Programming skills
  • Knowledge about chemical handling and laboratory safety
