Lund University hereby invites applications for the position of Senior Lecturer in Romanian Studies (70% of full-time)

The position will be placed until further notice at the Centre for Languages and Literature.

About the position

At SOL, students can pursue Romanian Studies full-time or part-time from beginner’s level to second cycle studies. Second cycle Romanian Studies is within the framework of the Masters’ Programme in Language and Linguistics. The teaching of Romanian Studies at SOL incorporates both language and literary studies. The duties of the position consist of teaching and supervision, in both first and second cycle education, as well as research. Teaching is conducted both on campus and through distance learning. The senior lecturer is also expected to work on the development of teaching in first and second cycle education, cooperate with colleagues in the Romance languages and take part in the division’s meetings. 

The ability to teach in English from the first day of the appointment is a requirement. The senior lecturer is expected to be able to teach in Swedish within two years.

For appointment as a senior lecturer, the individual must have:

  • been awarded a PhD or have the corresponding research expertise or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve,
  • demonstrated teaching expertise, and
  • completed at least five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means.

General assessment criteria:

the degree of research, teaching, administrative and other expertise that is of value in view of the work duties and subject matter of the post as well as other personal skills ofrelevance to perform the duties well.

For employment as senior lecturer the following is specifically required:

  • a good national and international standing as a researcher,
  • good teaching ability, including a good ability to conduct, develop and lead teaching and other educational activities at different levels and using a variety of teaching methods,
  • an ability to participate in supervising doctoral students to achieve a PhD,
  • an ability to cooperate with wider society and to communicate his or her activities as well as otherwise leading and developing activities.

A PhD in Romanian Studies with a specialisation in language or literature is a requirement. Experience of teaching the subject Romanian Studies is also a requirement.

Specific additional qualifications in order of priority:

  • documented experience of teaching the subject Romanian Studies at university level, as well as documented language or literary studies research within the subject Romanian Studies,
  • documented good ability to teach in a team with several teaching staff members and cooperate with other staff categories at the workplace
  • experience of online teaching and development of online courses
  • documented good ability in course administration and course development
  • experience of teaching students practical skills, e.g. academic writing.

Equal attention will be given to the applicants’ teaching and research expertise.
