Researcher in Theoretical Physics - Hiring in process/Finished, not possible to apply

The Theoretical Particle Physics group has an opening for a two-year researcher in Particle Physics Phenomenology, starting in the autumn of 2020, or by agreement.

The Lund Theoretical Particle Physics group consists of ten senior scientists, five post-doctoral fellows and ten PhD students. Rikkert Frederix, Leif Lönnblad, Stefan Prestel, Malin Sjödahl, Torbjörn Sjöstrand, Korinna Zapp and Gösta Gustafson (emeritus) work on various aspects of QCD and collider phenomenology, with emphasis on event generator development and applications thereof. Johan Bijnens mainly works on hadron and flavour physics, notably with chiral perturbation theory as a tool. Johan Rathsman and Roman Pasechnik are mainly working on the phenomenology of physics beyond the Standard Model, especially Higgs physics and unified gauge theories. We enjoy good relations with the experimental particle physics group in Lund, which is a member of ATLAS and ALICE, and which explores the possibility of fundamental physics experiments at the upcoming European Spallation Source in Lund and in the search for Dark Matter.

Description of work

The researcher should work on topics related to ongoing projects pursued by the group listed above, specifically within the area of precision physics at high and low energies, related to the activities of Johan Bijnens, Rikkert Frederix, Stefan Prestel and Malin Sjödahl. Note that research positions in heavy ion physics are advertised separately.

Qualifications

PhD in theoretical particle physics or a nearby field is required. An excellent research track record and a demonstrated strength in independent research are also requirements. We are primarily looking for applicants with solid experience in the subareas listed above.
