Duties

The duties include mainly the supervision of master thesis and teaching in our undergraduate, Master´s and PhD programmes as well as in the Faculty’s provision of distance and commissioned education. The present post entails a special responsibility for EU law, especially European Business Law. This includes in particular corporate law, competition law, intellectual property law, banking law and commercial law.

Moreover, the duties include active participation in the development of education at all levels, not least of methods based on new technology and, - securing and developing a stimulating environment for education and research through teaching, supervision and research.

The duties are to be performed in close cooperation with the students, doctoral students, teaching staff and researchers at Lund University and other higher education institutions, as well as with other external contacts. Finally, the duties include active and ongoing participation in and development of the other operations of the Faculty, including active participation in the development of the research environments in EU law.

Qualifications

Pursuant to Chapter 4 Section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance, those qualified for appointment as a senior lecturer are persons who have demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or have the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve.

Pursuant to the Lund University Admission Rules, the applicant shall also have completed at least five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means. If there are valid reasons, an applicant lacking at least five weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning can still be considered for appointment.

Assessment criteria

The assessment criteria are the degree of the types of expertise required as a qualification for employment. As much attention shall be given to the assessment of teaching expertise as to the assessment of other qualifying criteria.

Special emphasis will be placed on a good subject knowledge of EU law, especially European Business Law, but also on broad competence in jurisprudence and on the applicant’s national and international standing as a researcher.

The assessment will take into account the teaching expertise of the applicant and his or her ability to develop and lead teaching activities at all levels of education and with different methods. Furthermore, the applicant’s ability to participate in the supervision of doctoral students will be considered. A further requirement is experience of teaching in English as the majority of the teaching duties involve teaching in English.

Finally, the applicant must be able to demonstrate an ability to cooperate with wider society and communicate his or her activities, and have a general personal ability to perform the duties well, such as a good ability to lead and develop activities, cooperate, work independently, take initiatives and work towards set targets.

Duration

The position is temporary from 1 February 2020 until 31 January 2021.
