Work duties
We are looking for a researcher to develop applications of attosecond pulses to surface physics, nanostructures and solid materials. The project is a collaboration between the atomic physics department (attosecond group) and the synchrotron research department.

The work duties include:

Operate, maintain and develop a femtosecond laser system based on OPCPA technology.
Generate attosecond pulses through harmonic generation in gases
Develop applications of attosecond pulses to surface physics, plasmonics, condensed matter.
Teaching in the first, second and third cycles of studies
Supervision of degree projects and doctoral students
Actively seeking external research funding
Administration related to the work duties listed above

Qualification requirements
Applicants must have:

A PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position.
Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
Experience with femtosecond laser systems.
Experience with electron spectroscopy.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

Experience with electron microscopy.
Experience with high-order harmonic generation in gases.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment
Fixed-term employment, 20 months, 100 %, from 1/3/2020 to 31/10/2021.
