Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top universities. The University has around 47 000 students and more than 8 800 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

Lund University welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard gender equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

The research group

The broad research interest of our group is to identify cellular and molecular pathways during development of cells of the immune system (in mouse and in human). The gained knowledge could lead to a better understanding of hematopoietic disorders such as immune-deficiencies, myeloproliferative disease and leukemia. We also study the impact of leukemia on the immune system and how the malignant cells escape immune-surveillance.

We are looking for a driven research engineer to come and work as a part of the team with two postdoctoral researchers, using animal models, as well as primary human cells. The employment is a full-time with starting date the 1st of January or as agreed.

Work duties and areas of responsibility

Maintaining the lab (ordering reagents, ordering plastic supplies, organizing inventory), maintaining different mouse strains (breeding, making crosses between different strains, genotyping, keeping mouse inventory), mouse injections (intravenous, intraperitoneal, subcutaneous), collecting different mouse tissues, isolation of hematopietic cells from different tissues (mouse, human), cell analysis by flow cytometry (FACS), sterile tissue culture techniques, maintaining cell lines, freezing and thawing cells, inventory of frozen cells.

Qualifications

The following is required for the position:

  • A masters degree in biomedicine, biotechnology, immunology or cell and molecular biology.
  • Education in animal handling and flow cytometry.
  • Experience in working with mouse models (breeding, genotyping, monitoring and maintaining different strains).
  • Good knowledge of cell biology and molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience in using flow cytometry (FACS) to characterize different cell types.
