Job assignments:
The research assistant(s) will mainly be working on tasks related to ongoing projects at the department in the field of innovation, sustainability and regional development, in particular the project “Sustainable Plastics and Transition Pathways” http://steps-mistra.se/. Other ongoing projects include:
• Greening the Fleet – Sustainability Transitions in the Maritime Shipping Sector. https://www.sintef.no/en/projects/greening-the-fleet/
• The Geography of Nordic Sustainability Transitions. https://www.gonst.lu.se
• Realising Innovation in Transitions for Decarbonisation. https://www.reinvent-project.eu/
• Co-producing and co-financing renewable community energy projects. http://co2mmunity.eu/

Central tasks will include data analysis, transcription of interviews, desk research and contributions to drafting reports and other documents.

Qualifications:
Candidates are expected to have knowledge about economic geography, innovation studies, sustainability transitions, or related social science topics. Candidates are required to have an interest in these topics and in research in general. Fluency in English and one of the Scandinavian (Swedish, Danish, Norwegian) languages is a requirement.
Experience with qualitative data analysis is an advantage.

The position is open to candidates with a completed MSc, with a completed BSc, current MSc students, or current students in the later parts of their BSc education.

This is a temporary position until the 30th of August 2020 between 50-100% depending on the research funding.

The Faculty of Social Sciences at Lund University is one of the leading education and research institutions in Sweden and operates both in Lund and Helsingborg.

The Department of Human Geography, with about 60 staff, 400 full-time students and about 20 doctoral students, combines ancient traditions with modern and highly internationalised research and education. The Department is one of the most research-intensive departments in the Faculty, with a high level of external funding. In the most recent international evaluations (RQ 08 and RQ 20) of Lund University, the Department's research was rated as excellent in several areas. This strong position has developed further and the Department is ranked number 23 in the world according to QS 20, making it one of Lund University's highest ranked disciplinary domains in 2022.
The Department of Human Geography combines a strong subject tradition with modern and internationally high-quality research and education. The Department has extensive international collaborations as well as strong networks and contacts within and outside the faculty at LU. Key research and teaching areas are economic geography, development geography, urban and social geography, human ecology and GIS.
