The research group

At the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Glycobiology (MIG), basic research is conducted in microbiology, immunology and glycobiology, as well as bridging research with clinical focus. Within the department is the research group Cancer Infection where we work on a new drug discovery that you can follow from molecular mechanisms and animal models to clinical trials. The lab has an international work environment and offers great opportunities to develop a scientific career. Research has been at the forefront in this area for several years. The group is led by senior professor Catharina Svanborg and professor Gabriela Godaly and consists of both research and technical staff. The business is located at the Biomedical Center in Lund. We are hereby seeking a driven associate researcher in cancer biology for a substitute to the department of microbiology, immunology and glycobiology. The position is a temporary job that is limited to 1.5 years starting in January 2020 or according to agreement.

Work tasks

You will work both individually and in a team and proactively test project-related ideas. You also have the opportunity to mentor junior group members.

Qualifications

The following is required for the position:

  • A doctorate in medicine / biomedicine or related areas.
  • Documented experience in cancer biology, genomics and proteomics.
  • Documented experience and knowledge in being a mentor to younger group members.
  • Excellent oral communication skills in English.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal characteristics. The assignments require that you have a good cooperative ability and that you have the ability to work independently.

The following is desirable for the position:

  • A good publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
  • An interest in translational medicine.
