The post will be based at the Department of Experimental Medical Science in Lund.

Duties
The synchrotron radiation facility MAX IV and the neutron facility ESS are two major research centres in Lund. The duties include linking activities at these facilities to preclinical and/or clinically-oriented research at the Faculty of Medicine. The successful candidate is expected to actively interact with researchers at the Faculty of Medicine and at MAX IV and/or ESS with an aim to establish synchrotron and/or neutron-based imaging techniques and develop collaborations with other University units and other public sector and private sector organisations that are involved in this type of research.

The post may involve regular work at international facilities. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to participate in the faculty’s various first, second and third-cycle study programmes.

The post may also involve other duties.

Qualifications
In accordance with chapter 4, section 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance, a person qualified for appointment as a senior lecturer has demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or has the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve.

For appointment as senior lecturer there is a requirement for training in teaching and learning in higher education of at least five weeks or that corresponding knowledge has been acquired in some other way, unless there are special reasons (see Lund University’s Appointment Rules). If there is a special reason e.g. that the applicant in their previous post did not have the possibility to acquire such knowledge, the appointment can be made nonetheless. The employee is to take training in teaching and learning in higher education during the first two years of the appointment in order to fulfil the requirement.

Assessment criteria                                                           
The applicant is to have demonstrated research and teaching expertise of value to the subject. In the assessment, special emphasis will be given to research expertise.

The applicant is to have demonstrated research expertise by having a good national and international standing as a researcher.

The applicant shall have the expertise to structure and run medical studies that utilise the technology of research facilities such as MAX IV and/or ESS. The applicant shall, therefore, possess experience of conducting experimental studies at similar facilities.

The applicant is to have a very good ability to cooperate and documented expertise in creating/developing research networks.

Research funding received as a principal applicant in national and international competition is an additional qualification.

The applicant is to have demonstrated teaching expertise covering teaching and supervision in first, second and third-cycle studies. An additional qualification is the documented ability to supervise doctoral students to a PhD.  

The candidate is to demonstrate an ability for leadership and the ability to interact with wider society.  

The candidate’s research development potential will carry weight in the assessment.

The successful candidate is to master Swedish within a three-year period in order to teach first-cycle studies and participate in the University’s administrative work and various organisational bodies.
