Automatic Control is an exciting and broad subject, covering both deep mathematics and hands-on engineering. Historically it has been instrumental in many areas, in putting a man on the moon and the development of the Internet e.g. Today, driven by the need to engineer ever larger systems, Automatic Control has never been more relevant. It is crucial for secure operation of many cutting edge technologies, ranging from integration of renewable energy sources, cloud computing, robotics, Internet of Things and autonomous systems. The Department of Automatic Control is a world class department with projects in all of the above areas. The department has a stimulating and international environment consisting of PhD students, postdocs and teachers coming from all corners of the world. Research and teaching are conducted in an open and progressive atmosphere with challenges and cooperation both within academia and with industry, with national and international networks.

Lund University and the Department of Automatic Control welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We regard equality and diversity as a strength and an asset.

Work duties
As a research engineer at the department of Automatic Control, you work in a group of technical and administrative personnel, in close collaboration with researchers, teachers, doctoral students, and undergraduate students. The emphasis of the work is within embedded system integration and server management, but it also involves IT operations and general service. The tasks include system integration of embedded systems for RobotLab, the Department’s teaching lab, as well as for research projects that are dependent on proprietary or custom software and/or hardware. You will also work with operations, local adaptations, and to a certain extent the development of new software for the department’s Linux environment. In addition to this, you need to possess the knowledge needed to troubleshoot and integrate embedded hardware.
