MAX IV is responsible for the systematic work environment (SAM) for all its employees. In addition, it has an important role in educating and supervising all external users and contractors in terms of safety. This work is led by the Safety Group at MAX IV, which comprises about 16 people organized in five areas: Security and Fire Safety, Radiation Safety, Environmental Safety, Chemical and Laboratory Safety, and Systematic Work Environment Coordination.

The MAX IV Fire Safety Engineer will have the responsibility to ensure our organization complies with fire safety laws and regulations, but also contribute to the design and safe operation of systems that use flammable liquids, gases, and material in an experimental environment.

Work duties:

  • Responsible for fire protection for the MAX IV laboratory and work to ensure that the organization meets the requirements and regulations regarding systematic fire protection work
  • Manager responsible for flammable goods and developing systems and procedures for handling flammable goods
  • Responsible for writing and verifying hot work permits
  • Responsible for developing and updating emergency and evacuation plans for the organization
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of systems requiring ATEX handling
  • Contact with relevant authorities

Requirements:

  • University degree or equivalent experience as a fire safety engineer
  • Experience in ATEX classification
  • Knowledge of Swedish law concerning fire safety and work environment
  • Fluent in speech and writing for both Swedish and English

Desirable:

    • Experience in the development and implementation of systematic fire protection work within a larger organization.
    • Experience of working with relevant authorities to develop emergency and evacuation plans
     • Documented experience in developing fire safety training programs
