Subject description

The project will mainly deal with acquisition and signal processing on invasive and non-invasive electromyographic signals to be used for control of prosthetic hands

 

Work duties

The main duties involved is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included to some extent, maximum 20% of working hours.

 

Detailed description of the work duties:

  • Independent role in research within the subject area of the project
  • Active collaboration with partners related to the project
  • Supervision of Masters and PhD students
  • Actively seeking external research funding
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above
  • Teaching at basic and advanced level
  • Possibility of pedagogical development
  • Collaboration with clinical staff

 

Qualification requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position.
  • Extensive experience from acquiring electromyographic signals using both surface and invasive techniques.
  • Extensive experience from signal processing of elctromyographic signals for control of hand prosthesis.
  • Extensive experience of sensory/motor stimulation, electrical and mechanical
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.

Research excellence proved by scientific publications in journals and at conferences

 

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

  • A good ability to develop and conduct high quality research.
  • A good knowledge of Matlab, LabVIEW and Python and other relevant programming languge
  • A good knowledge of how to design experiments
  • A good knowledge and experience with acquisition and processing of EEG-signals

 

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

 

Terms of employment

This is a full-time, fixed-term employment with a duration of 8 months.
