The research group
The research group for Clinical memory research conducts research in dementia. Research has been at the forefront in this area for many years, including world-leading research in Alzheimer’s disease. The group is led by professor Oskar Hansson.
We are now looking for a PhD-student for a project focused on characterization of induced neurons (iN-cells) from patients with sporadic Alzheimer’s disease. Preliminary starting date is March 1 2020.
Tasks
As mentioned above, the PhD-project is focused on iN-cells from AD patients. We will study interactions between tau, beta-amyloid, lysosomal function and epigenetic factors. Data from cell experiments will be correlated with matched clinical, genetic, biochemical and neuroimaging data. The goal is to establish effective novel disease models for AD, and clarify pathobiological mechanisms with high relevance for future development of disease modifying treatments.
Qualifications
- Has satisfied the requirements for courses comprising at least 240 credits of which at least 60 credits were awarded in the second cycle, or has acquired substantially equivalent knowledge in some other way in Sweden or abroad.
- Practical experience of exoperimental cell biological research.

Eligibility
Provisions for the employment of doctoral students are stated in the Higher Education Ordinance SFS 1998:80. Only those who have been admitted to third-cycle courses and study programmes may be appointed to doctoral studentships. When an appointment is made, the ability of the student to benefit from the research studies must be taken into account. In addition to the obligation to focus on their own research studies, the doctoral student may be tasked to work in education, research and administration in accordance with specific provisions in the ordinance.
Terms of employment
Fixed-term employment, four years, in accordance with the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5 Section 7.
