Subject description
The successful candidate will work on developing methods and computational tools to study the atomic nucleus. The line of research of the nuclear theory group in Lund regards nuclear structure and reaction properties in medium, heavy and superheavy nuclei using effective Hamiltonians, projection techniques and Green’s function methods.
Research in the division of mathematical-physics is active primarily in the field of quantum many particle physics. That includes theoretical nuclear structure physics, nanometer physics, quantum information, atomic theory and material modeling, with numerous partnerships both internationally and within Lund University.
Work duties
The main duties involved in the researcher posistion is to conduct research in theoretical nuclear physics. The successful applicant will contribute to the research efforts in nuclear theory at Lund university. The candidate will have a strong research record and initiative towards scientific independence.
If the applicant is interested, teaching may also be included, but up to no more than 20% of working hours. The researcher is expected to interact with the master students and the PhD students in the research group and contribute to meetings and seminars.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications
Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject and the ability to contribute to the research project. The assessment will evaluate experience, demonstrated independence, and research curiosity in one or more of these topics: nuclear DFT and post-DFT methods, Green’s function, GCM/RGM, nuclear reactions theory.
Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.
