Subject description
Lund University GIS Centre at the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science is going to expand it's research activities in the area of using spatiotemporal analysis and machine learning techniques for climate change studies. A researcher is going to be employed to help with strengthening and expanding this research direction.

Work duties
Detailed description of the work duties are:
• research within the subject area
• actively seeking external research funding
• collaboration with industry and wider society
• teaching GIS-related courses, maximum of 20%.
• administration related to the work duties listed above.

Qualification requirements
Applicants must have:
• a PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position 
• very good oral and written proficiency in English
• good knowledge and skills in, mainly and first, machine learning techniques and also spatiotemporal analysis.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications
The assessment will be done based on the criteria mentioned in the qualifications requirements. Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment
The employment is full time, 100%, within the period 1 April 2020 to 31 December 2021.
