The research group

This employment will help to meet the increased need for so-called induced stem cells (iPS cells) in various research areas at Lund University. The possibility of producing high-quality iPS cells depends on a functioning core facility. This employment will enable more researchers to be able to make use of the facility, among other things by expanding the opportunities for weekend work. Research has been at the forefront in this area for several years. The group is led by Professor Niels Bjarne-Woods and consists of both research and technical staff. We are hereby seeking a driven lab. assistant / research engineer to assist with various tasks at Stem Therapy ES / iPS Core Facility. The employment is limited to one year of 80% with the desired date of admission on 1 March or by agreement.

Work duties and area of responsibility

The employee will support the current operations of the ES / iPS-core facility, especially in the development of new patient-specific iPS lines. The service mainly includes advanced cell culture work, including sterile work. The employment requires that the recruited person is willing to work part-time on weekends and weekdays (exact work schedule will be discussed in connection with employment). Other available tasks may also be relevant.

Qualifications

The following is required for the position:

  • Master's degree in molecular biology or equivalent.
  • Documented experience in advanced cell culture techniques.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal characteristics. The work duties require that you have a good ability to cooperate and that you are able to work independently.

The following is meritorious for the position:

  • Documented experience in the cultivation of pluripotent stem cells, including cultivation, expansion and generation of such lines.
