Work duties
The overall objective is the development of cell-based methods for the investigation of inflammatory and immunotoxic effects such as allergy, based on dendritic cells and epithelial cells. This includes studies of the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in immunological responses caused by chemicals and their mixtures, e.g. in skin sensitization.

The tasks include cell culture of primary cells and cell lines, various cell-based assays, as well as analysis of RNA and protein expression. Thus, cell culture, the use of cellular and molecular analysis methods, and bioinformatics will be important parts of the project. The employee is expected to actively collaborate with researchers, industrial partners and clinicians, as well as participate in applying for research funding for new projects at the department. The assignments also include supervision of degree workers and doctoral students, and there may be participation in the department's basic and postgraduate training courses

 Qualifications 

• PhD degree in Biotechnology / Cell Biology / Chemical Engineering / Toxicology or equivalent.
• Very good knowledge of English, in speech and writing.
• Good knowledge and documented experimental experience of in vitro methods based on human cells, especially culture and analysis of human dendritic cells.
• Experience in research in the field of toxicology, as well as practical experience in in vitro methods for assessing the ability of substances to cause skin allergy, aseptic working techniques and the cultivation of primary cells and cell lines.
• Practical experience in methods including flow cytometry, multiplex analysis of soluble proteins (i.e Luminex, CBA), and gene expression analyses (i.e PCR-based, Nanostring, sequencing or array-based).
• Experience in writing scientific articles in the field of immunotoxicology / in vitro methods.

Other merits

• Experience in in vitro testing methods in adjacent fields such as irritation, geno- and phototoxicity and photosensitization.
• Scientific publications and conference contributions in the field of immunotoxicology and cell-based in vitro methods.
• Experience in teaching activities, supervising students, and formulating applications for research grants.

Consideration will also be given to good collaboration, drive and independence as well as how the applicant is judged, through his experience and expertise, to complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department and to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment
The service is fixed-term employment and covers 12 months. Scope 100%. Entry as soon as possible by agreement.
