Subject description
At Ergnonomics and Aerosol Technology we carry out reseach on human-technological systems, that is, the interaction between people and their surrounding environment and its consequences for the design of technological systems and organisations. The applicant is expectred to carry out research and to teach in the area of human-technolgical systems with application to Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and the Internet of things (IoT).

Work duties
Employment as an Associate Senior Lecturer is a career development position and aims for the holder to develop his or her independence as a researcher and educator. The work duties mainly involve research and teaching. The position shall include the opportunity for five weeks of training in higher education teaching.

Detailed description of the work duties:

  • Research in human-technological systems focused on the application of Virtual Reality, Agumented Reality and the Internet of Things in different types of working environments.
  • Participation in the development of Lund University’s joint infrastructure in Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.
  • Teaching at the undergraduate (Bachelor’s) and postgraduate (Master’s and PhD) levels in the areas of Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Interaction Design and the Internet of Things.
  • Supervision of Master’s and Doctoral students.
  • Applying for external research financing.
  • Collaboration with the private (trade and industry) and public sectors of society.

 

Qualification requirements
The appointment to Associate Senior Lecturer requires that the applicant has completed a PhD or has acquired corresponding research expertise.

Priority will be given to applicants who have done so no more than five years before the last date for application.

 

Additional qualifications

  • Documented experience of working in large research projects.
  • Previous experience in teaching on the undergraduate (Bachelor’s) and postgraduate (Master’s and PhD) levels in Interaction Design, Virtual Reality and Augmented Realty.
  • Documented experience of participating in applying for research funding.
  • Several year of practical experience outside of academia in the development of applications in Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality (AR) and the Internet of Things (IoT).
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in Swedish and English.


Assessment criteria

The assessment criteria for the Associate Senior Lecturer appointment are as follows:

  • Good ability to develop and conduct research.
  • Teaching skills.

 

Other qualifications

  • Established national and international networks both in industry and academia.

 

Consideration will be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence. It will also be given to how the applicant is judged based on his or her experience, expertise and skills to supplement and strengthen ongoing research, undergraduate education and innovation in the Department, and contribute to its future development.

 

Terms of employment
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of 6 years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with Chapter 4 Section 12a§ HEA.

Promotion to Senior Lecturer in Working Environment in the area of Human-Technological Systems with a focus on Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality and Internet of Things

During the period of employment, an Associate Senior Lecturer can apply for promotion to a permanent position as Senior Lecturer if he or she is judged to satisfy the qualifications listed below and is deemed to be suitable. An Associate Senior Lecturer can only apply for the promotion once.


Qualification requirements
The appointment to Senior Lecturer requires that the applicant has:

  • A PhD or corresponding research competence or professional expertise considered important with regard to the subject matter of the position and the work duties it will involve.
  • Demonstrated teaching expertise.
  • Completed a higher education teaching course of at least five weeks or acquired equivalent knowledge by other means.


Additional requirements

  • Able to demonstrate active participation in the development of the subject area.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently and with other researchers apply for external research funding.
  • Has worked to expand national and international research networks aimed at generating future research collaboration.
  • Able to demonstrate active participation in the development of courses and of his or her own pedagogical competence.
  • Able to show good experience in the supervision of PhD and Master students as well as the ability to reflect on it.
  • Has completed the senior lecturer (docent) course.
  • Able to demonstrate good ability to cooperate with the public sector, private sector and other organisations outside of the University, and with the general public. This is aimed at a mutually increased understanding for and utilisation of the research and development work.
  • Personal suitability evidenced by the ability to collaborate internally and to cooperate with other researchers, the surrounding community and society at large.

 

Assessment criteria
When assessing the applicants, special importance will be given to research and teaching expertise. The assessment criteria for the Senior Lecturer appointment are as follows:

  • A good national and international standing as a researcher. The requirement for international experience shall be assessed with consideration to the character and traditions of the subject.
  • Good teaching abilities, including abilities to conduct, develop and lead teaching and other educational activities on different levels and using a variety of teaching methods.
  • Ability to supervise doctoral students to achieve a PhD.
  • Ability to interact with the surrounding community and to inform about your activities.
  • A good general ability to lead and develop the organisation.
