The research group
The Division of Clinical Genetics at Lund University consists of eight research groups, all focusing on various aspects of tumor development. The current project concerns integrative bioinformatics analysis of massive parallel sequencing (MPS) data on soft tissue tumors.
The research group for the genetics of soft tissue tumors conducts research in which genetic changes that characterize different types of soft tissue tumors are identified, and the effect these chenges have on the cell and patient level is clarified. The group is led by Professor Fredrik Mertens and consists of both research and technical staff. The business is located at the Biomedical Center in Lund. Here you can read more about our exciting research.
Within the research group, we safeguard a good working environment with respect and consideration in our relationships with each other.
We are hereby seeking a driven postdoctor for work on projects within the research group. The position is full-time for two years according to a central agreement on fixed-term employment as a postdoc. The desired date of admission is July 1st or by agreement.
Work duties and areas of responsibility
In this project, whole-exome sequencing (WES), whole genome sequencing (WGS), RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq), and single nucleotide polymorphism array (SNP array) data will be used to study different clinical subsets of liposarcoma and undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma. The aim is to use bioformatics to identify driver mutations in primary tumors and cell lines, to identify pathogenetic mechanisms involved in clonal evolution and tumor progression, and to translate key findings into a clinical diagnostic setting. Other duties within the research group may also be relevant.
