The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts is one of eight faculties within Lund University and includes Malmö Art Academy, Malmö Academy of Music and Malmö Theatre Academy, also Inter Arts Center and Choral Centre South. The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts offers Bachelor and Master programs in visual art, music and drama, and various courses of different extent. The Faculty also runs third cycle (postgraduate) studies in artistic research and music education.


Qualifications

Eligibility

In accordance with chapter 4, section 3 of the Higher Education Ordinance, a person shall be qualified for employment as a professor in disciplines in the fine, applied or performing arts. who has demonstrated both artistic and teaching expertise and completed at least five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education or obtained equivalent knowledge in some other way, unless there are special reasons. If there are special reasons, e.g. that the applicant in their previous position did not have the conditions to obtain such knowledge, the appointment may be made nonetheless. The successful candidate is to then complete training in teaching and learning in higher education during their first two years in the position, so that the requirement is met.


Assessment criteria

Very considerable emphasis is given to artistic excellence within research-based art at an international level, which means that extensive international exhibiting experience and ongoing activities on the current art scene constitute a very important part of the assessment. As the position involves planning and leading a research-based MFA programme in Fine Arts, there is a requirement for a PhD in Fine Arts. Experience of planning and leading research projects and MFA programmes in Fine Arts is a strong additional qualification.

The position requires good teaching expertise, which means very good ability to conduct, develop and lead teaching and other educational activities at different levels and using a variety of teaching methods in which a vision for teaching artists is of considerable significance. Considerable emphasis is also placed on experience of teaching at the university and higher education level.

Other requirements

In addition, there is a requirement for a good ability to be involved in external engagement and to provide information about activities as well as a good ability in other respects to lead and develop their activities.

The candidate must have mastery of a Scandinavian language and be able to master English as a language of instruction as well as in writing.
