The research group

The Department of Clinical Genetics is one of the strongest research environments in cancer genetics, and research is conducted on malignant blood formation. The research ranges from basic basic research to clinically applied research. The project involves high-resolution genomic techniques in combination with experimental animal models to study leukemia with the hope that this will lead to an increased knowledge of the genetic and epigenetic changes found in leukemia and the altered signaling pathways. The research group for MLL-rearranged leukemia in infants is led by researcher Anna Hagström and consists of both research and technical staff. We are hereby seeking an experienced associate researcher for work in our research projects. The employment is limited to two years full time with the desired date of admission on April 10 or by agreement.

Work duties and areas of responsibility

As an assistant researcher within the research group, you are responsible for working with various animal models, including work with immunodeficient mice, to study how leukemia occurs and functional analyzes. The work will be characterized by a number of different laboratory work steps as well as continuous work on learning new analytical methods. Other existing tasks within the research group may also be relevant.

Qualifications

The position requires:

• Doctoral degree in biomedicine or other relevant subject area.
• Good theoretical molecular genetic knowledge as well as a good ability to obtain new knowledge, interpret results and plan and perform the necessary tasks.
• Documented experience working with laboratory animals, including work with immunodeficient mice, transplants, blood sampling, IP and subcutaneous injection, oral administration of drugs, making viruses, transducing cells, performing targeted sequencing with NGS, RNA sequencing, western blot, ATP assays , as well as experience in cell culture.
• Documented experience in performing and interpreting flow cytometry data and be able to sort primary cells with FACS.
• Documented laboratory experience of the above tasks.
• Good knowledge of the English language (written and linguistic).

Great emphasis will be placed on personal characteristics. The tasks require that you have good cooperative ability. In addition, the duties require that you have the ability to take your own initiative and work independently.
