Subject description

The work duties involve work in the area of machine design with focus on synthesis activities such as engineering design techniques, design for X, design with non-metallic materials, product quality, rapid prototyping, and engineering design methodology in connection with product development. The work duties also include working in two projects, one within design for additive manufacturing, one with design with polymer materials.

The work duties are:

  • Research within the subject description.
  • Teaching in the first and second cycles of studies within the areas of the subject description.
  • Opportunity for training in higher education teaching and learning.
  • Supervision of degree projects and doctoral students.
  • Seeking external research funding.
  • Collaboration with industry and wider society.
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above.

Qualification requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD degree.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Documented research experience within the subject of the position.
  • Documented industrial experience within the subject of the position.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

  • Experience with teaching courses and performing industrial projects within the subject of the position.
  • Experience with supervision of students at degree project work.
  • Work experience in industry as as an engineer within the subject of the position.
  • Experience of international collaboration.
  • Expertise with additive manufaturing and design with polymer materials.
  • Expertise in specific design for X areas and specific product quality methods.
  • Good reading proficiency in German.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment
Fixed-term employment, 13 months, 100 %. First day of employment: August 1, 2020, at the latest August 15, 2020.
