Job description
The postdoc will utilize a high throughput assay for measuring the stability of proteins. The assay will be applied to evaluation of designed protein assemblies, carry out directed evolution of protein stability and to characterize the relationship between structure and sequence. The researcher will also work with biophysical characterization of the assembly state of designed proteins. The researcher is expected to take part in group activities and participate in supervision of graduate and undergraduate students.

The experimental work will mainly involve creation of DNA libraries, the use and development of methods for screening libraries of protein variants with bacterial fluorescence activated cell sorting, analysis of selected designs using Next Generation Sequencing, protein purification and biophysical characterization with analytical ultracentrifugation.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent in biochemistry or protein science or other relevant fields. Experience of creation of (deep saturation mutation) DNA libraries is required as is significant experience with bacterial fluorescence activated cell sorting for protein engineering. The candidate should be highly proficient in the use of general molecular biology techniques and biophysical methods to characterize structure and assembly states of proteins. Some experience of analysis of next generation sequencing data and data from cell sorting is required.

Meritorious

  • Experience of operating and analyzing analytical ultracentrifugation data is highly meriting.
  • Knowledge in data analysis with R and python.
  • Experience of developing methods for bacterial fluorescence activated cell sorting is highly meriting.
