Subject description
A 7 month employment as a researcher in evolutionary speciation genetics is announced in the research group for plant-insect interactions, Department of Biology https://www.biology.lu.se/research/research-groups/evolutionary-ecology-of-plant-insect-interactions The researcher will work with genome annotation, analysis of whole genome data and gene expression data to address how natural selection shapes the genome. The researcher will work closely together with Anna Runemark.

Work duties
In the work duties the main part is performing research, including bioinformatical work with genome annotation, analysis of whole genome data and gene expression data. Teaching can be part of the work duties, but no more than 20% of the working hours. The researcher will also take part of bioinformatical supervision of PhD-students and MSc-students and potentially also teach at the MSc-program in bioinformatics.

Qualification requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD within the subject of evolutionary genomicst.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English is necessary.
  • Well-documented proficiency with bioinformatical analysis within the field of evolutionary biology.
  • Well documented ability to develop and perform high quality research.
  • A solid background knowledge and a strong record of publications within the field of evolutionary genomics.
  • Experience in teaching bioinformatics.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications
Knowledge of how to construct pipelines for reproducible analysis and experience with working on the Rackham cluster are also meriting. Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment
The employment is fixed-term (7 months) between July 1st 2020 and January 31st 2021. The scope of employment is full time. The contact person is Anna Runemark.
