At the Department of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, extensive research and education in nursing is currently carried out at first and second cycle education level, as well as at third cycle education level. We would therefore like to appoint a professor of nursing who can actively contribute to the development of research and teaching. The position will be located at the Department of Health Sciences at Lund University.

Tasks
The position of professor includes conducting research and education at different educational levels, working to establish and create networks, developing a creative research environment, as well as carrying out associated administrative work. The professor of nursing is expected to conduct high-quality research in the subject area. The holder of the position is also expected to be able to attract external funding, supervise doctoral students, and act as mentor and support to younger junior researchers. Furthermore, the professor of nursing is expected to carry out supervision, teaching and examination in the subject area at all three cycle levels. The holder of the position of professor must have the ability to lead a research group and to carry out management tasks, as well as to actively work to achieve cooperation in the research both within Lund University and externally at national and international level. In the event of special circumstances, the applicant must undergo training in teaching and learning in higher education during the first two years of employment.

Other tasks may also occur.

Eligibility
In accordance with the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 4, Section 3, a person who has demonstrated both research and teaching expertise shall be qualified for employment as a professor.

The applicant must have completed five weeks of training in teaching and learning in higher education or have acquired equivalent knowledge in another way, unless special circumstances apply (see Lund University Appointment Rules).

The prospective holder of the position must have a doctoral degree in nursing or in an equivalent subject relevant to the research subject and be a registered nurse.

Assessment criteria
The applicant must have demonstrated a high degree of research and teaching expertise of importance to the subject, as well as good collaboration and leadership abilities. In the assessment, research expertise will be given highest priority.

Research expertise is demonstrated through postdoc period(s), publications in international scientific journals, grants obtained in open competition, supervision of doctoral students up to public defence of their doctoral theses, as well as experience of national and international cooperation in research. Furthermore, research expertise is demonstrated through a qualified research programme relevant to the subject area, experience of project management and conditions for long-term career development.

Teaching skill is demonstrated through a good ability to plan, develop and conduct teaching and supervision at all three cycle levels. Furthermore, teaching skill is also demonstrated through the ability to convert clinical competence into teaching elements.

Collaboration is demonstrated through good ability to cooperate and the ability to interact with surrounding society.

Leadership is demonstrated through documented experience of leading groups towards common goals and of cooperation with researchers and professionals from different disciplines.

Since the position includes research, teaching and management assignments, experience from all areas is considered an asset for the professorship. Management experience in research environments and research funding obtained is considered a particular merit. Experience of clinical work as well as in-depth education in a subject area relevant to the employment, such as specialist nursing training, is also considered a merit.

The candidate employed must be fluent in Swedish or another Scandinavian language (Norwegian or Danish) in order to teach at first and second cycle education level and to participate in the university's administrative work. For teaching staff at Lund University, the general qualification requirements concern being suitable for and having the ability in general that is needed to satisfactorily carry out the duties of the appointment in question.
