MoRe-Lab
The Faculty of Medicine at Lund University is currently building Forum Medicum – a future medical and health sciences knowledge centre that will be completed in 2023. Forum Medicum will include a new infrastructure – the Movement and Reality Lab (MoRe Lab) – that will represent an important platform for developing and establishing the innovative experimental health science.

This investment will enable unique and innovative interdisciplinary research in collaboration with other faculties and higher education institutions, as well as partners outside academia. Through MoRe-Lab the complex interaction between physical function, behaviour, cognition and activity in different standardised or real environments can be studied. The research could involve evaluating technology, for example gait trainers, movement sensors, e-health applications and robots to improve people’s function and health in different environments. Experimental medical science research is not discipline-specific, instead it strives for interdisciplinary collaboration between traditional health sciences disciplines and other fields that study important aspects related to health. The research is characterised by cross-border collaboration involving parties outside academia in the research process.

About the position
The holder of this position must conduct research in the field of experimental health sciences. The position consists mainly of research but also of teaching assignments at Bachelor’s and Master’s level or other assignments funded by the holder’s external grants. Expenses related to overhead costs at the University are expected to be funded by teaching assignments at Bachelor, Master’s or PhD level or by the holder’s external grants. There may be an opportunity to obtain funding for purchasing equipment for experimental health science research if this is deemed to be of strategic importance for the establishment and development of the MoRe Lab. The position may be based in one of the existing research groups at the Department of Health Sciences or the holder may establish their own research group if this is considered possible.

Position
A position as senior lecturer, full time and indefinite term, in experimental health science. The position is based until further notice in the Department of Health Sciences.

The research involves innovative methods and ideas in standardised or real environments and includes evaluation of modern technology with the aim of improving people’s function and health.

The successful applicant must be expected to take a leading role in the development of experimental health science and play an active part in the organisation, establishment, running and continuous development of the MoRe Lab. Work duties include providing support to researchers on issues relating to experimental health  science and serving as a mentor for doctoral students and early-career researchers from different disciplines but with an interest in, potential for, and commitment to, the new research specialisation. The holder must also be expected to attract external grants.

Collaboration within and outside academia is at the core of this position. Experimental health science is an interdisciplinary and boundary-crossing field, thus requiring researchers from different faculties and higher education institutions and parties outside academia to be actively involved in the research. The senior lecturer in experimental health science is also expected to conduct supervision and teaching within the subject area at PhD, Master’s and Bachelor’s level.
