Subject description In-situ transmission electron microscopy for understanding fundamental processes in semiconductor crystal growth.
Work duties The main duties involved in a post-doctoral position is to conduct research. Teaching may also be included, but up to no more than 20% of working hours. The position shall include the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning.
The aim of this project is to study the fundamental formation processes in semiconductor crystal growth at the nanoscale using environmental transmission electron microscopy (ETEM). The project will utilize a customized ETEM integrated with a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) equipped with gas sources suitable for growth of semiconductor materials. Real-time analysis will be used to understand the processes governing nucleation, selection of crystal structure, and growth of heterostructure materials. Within this project semiconductor nanowires composed of III-V materials will be used as templates for investigating crystal growth at the atomic scale. Supervision of graduate or postgraduate students may also be part of the work duties.
Qualification requirements Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the last date for applications. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier.
