The Department of Clinical Sciences in Lund (IKVL) is one of six institutions at the Faculty of Medicine, Lund University. The department has a broad collaboration, both within the faculty and within other units at the University. IKVL also has a well-developed collaboration with Skåne University Hospital (SUS) and Region Skåne as well as the surrounding community and business. This is to promote clinical and experimental translational research, development and education.

The research group

This postdoc project will be conducted in the research group of Associate professor Pontus Nordenfelt (nordlab.med.lu.se). Our group is interested in cell biology, microbiology and immunology, with emphasis on quantifying molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions, as well as studying the cell biology of cell migration, cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions and signaling. Much of the research is centred around integrin biology and antibody function.

Within the research group, we ensure a good working environment with respect and consideration in our relationships with each other. We are constantly working to create the conditions for job satisfaction, development and participation for all employees.

We are hereby looking for an assistant researcher of 100% with a starting date of 2020-07-01 (or by appointment) and end date 2021-01-31.

Work tasks

The project will focus on development of integrin-based molecular FRET sensors for use with cell migration studies. Since integrins are involved in so many different types of surface interactions, these sensors can also be applied to other research areas, such as bacterial invasion of human cells.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • The applicant should hold a PhD in a related area.
  • Substantial experience in Cell biology; Live cell fluorescence microscopy; Molecular biology; and Quantitative image analysis is required.
  • Excellent spoken and written English is required. Great emphasis will be placed on personal characteristics. The duties require you to be able to conduct a project independently and critically. Applicants must possess excellent communication skills and be able to interact and work efficiently in a team.

Highly desirable:

  • Experience with FRET, fluorescence polarization, single cell biology and programming (particularly MATLAB or Python).

Instructions for the application

The application must contain a personal letter describing how you fulfil the desired qualifications, a CV and diploma.
