Sepsis (when an infection becomes life threatening) is a neglected public health problem affecting as many as cancer, with a higher martality rate than myocardial infarction and is very expensive. Sepsis is a complex syndrome, akin cancer and should not be classified as a single disease, rather many different depending on:
1. the bacteria causing the infection, 2. organ focus of the infection, and 3. perhaps most importantly, in which inflammatory stage the individual sepsis patient is when seeking care.
Our group focuses on knowledge, incidence, epidemiology, long-term complications, pathophysiology, biomarkers, diagnostics and new treatment for sepsis. We focus on mapping out the sepsis progression in order to "personalizie" sepsis diagnosis and treatment. We also study the special groups of sespsis.; sush as meningitis, neutropenic and postoperatives sepsis. In order to increase public awareness os sepsis we cooperate with the Swedish Sepsis foundation.
Within the department, we ensure a good working environment with respect and consideration in our relationships with each other. We are constantly working to create the conditions for job satisfaction, development and participation for all employees.
The department of infectious medicine is now looking for a laboratory assistant for this project for a fixed term employment for about 6 months.
Proposed start date 2020-06-15, or by agreement.
