The research group
The research group of Stem Cell Metabolism conducts research in hematology, especially hematopoietic stem cell biology and erythropoiesis. In this particular project, we aim to study biology of hematopoietic stem cells, particularly regulation of proteostatic control and genetical stability. We will use advanced imaging technologies, flow cytometry and complex cell culture system, as well as standard molecular biology assays to achieve the goal. The group is led by group leader Kenichi Miharada. The Stem Cell Metabolism lab is embedded within the Lund Stem Cell Center, an internationally ranked research center as well as StemTherapy program.
Within the research group, we safeguard a workplace that is perceived as developing and stimulating for all employees.
We are seeking an associate researcher for this challenging project. The employment is limited to 14 months with the desired date of admission on July 1 or by agreement.
Working duties and area of responsibilities
As associate researcher within the research group the scientist will be involved in ongoing research in the lab aimed at establishing new in vitro culture systems for hematopoietic stem cells, by optimizing the culture condition and testing novel chemical compounds. Proliferation and differentiation of the cultured cells will be assessed both at cellular and molecular levels using flow cytometry, quantitative RT-PCR, Fluidigm platform etc. Furthermore the associate researcher is expected to establish assays for measuring bioactivity of the compound and assessing cellular-/geno-toxicity.
