The task of Corporate Communications, which is one of the Central Administration’s ten divisions, is to contribute in increasing the University’s visibility, attractiveness and communication capability. Corporate Communication comprises four offices – Media and Branding, Office of Special Events and Protocol, Web Communications and LU Communication Support – and has a staff of 40.

LU Communication Support contributes to the development of the organisation’s communication capability by providing support, primarily for internal processes. Development of internal communication as well as production and coordination of internally-oriented content is to facilitate the information flow within the University. Through translation services, the office contributes to professional communication with English-speaking target groups. The office also offers project management for large projects of particular importance for the University’s brand. The office’s task includes providing Corporate Communications and the Communications Director with support in areas such as administration and process development. The office has a staff of 15.

Duties

-      Translation from Swedish to English of documents such as decisions, guidelines, newsletters, and course and programme syllabi

-      Editing and proofreading of documents in English

-      Providing information on external suppliers concerning certain translation assignments

-      Language strategy formulation in cooperation with other members of the team

-      Providing advice on English language style and quality assurance of English usage

-      Submitting documentation for invoicing

-      Coordination of assignments (planning and follow up)

Qualifications

Certified translator from Swedish to English, or professional translator, whose native language is English and who has a number of years of solid professional experience in translating from Swedish to English. Experience of administrative work.

The translator we are looking for has experience of working on texts about higher education or public administration, or financial management and law. You have very good teamwork skills and are self-motivated, stable, organised, quality-conscious and service-minded. Experience in a coordinating role is an additional qualification.
