Subject description
We are working on developing robotic skills with the aim of fast and simplified programming. For this, we integrate computer vision, actuation (mobile platform, arm, gripper) with a suitable knowledge integration framework, reasoning, learning and classic AI.

Work duties
The main duties involved in a researcher position is to conduct research. The focus will be on programming and evaluating a complete autonomous robot system. Starting point will be the existing open source system SkiROS  that runs at TRL5. The task  will be to push the SkiROS framework to TRL7. Further tasks are:

• collaborate with our PhD and master students in their work with SkiROS.
• Develop, evaluate and publish own work within SkiROS.
• Contribute to further research directions of SkiROS.

Qualification requirements
Appointment to a research position requires that the applicant has a PhD, within the subject of the position. 

Additional requirements:

• Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
• Publications and experience in the area of robotic systems and robot system software architectures
• Very good programming skills in Python, C++ and ROS.
• Extensive experience in working with the open source SkiROS software
• Experience in getting complex robotic systems to work.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of a maximum of 10 months.
