Lund University announces a 4-month research project assistant in cognitive semiotics with a specialization in polysemiotic communication, 50%, at Centre for Languages and Literature, Lund University. The period for the employment is from 15 September to 15 January 2020.

General: Cognitive Semiotics at Lund University is a relatively new discipline, combining theories and methods from semiotics, linguistics and cognitive science, in the transdisciplinary study of meaning and sense-making.

Job description:
The assistantship is part of the Swedish Research Council-project POLYSEM: Polysemiotic communication: Integrating language, gesture and depiction in three cultural practices. The tasks include coding the gestures in video-recorded data collected in Paama and Central Australia, using the software ELAN.

Criteria:
By the start of the position, the applicant must have
(a) a complete MA thesis in cognitive semiotics, focusing on gestures
(b) previous experience in gesture coding as an assistant in a research project, and
(c) advanced command of the software ELAN.
