Subject description
The researcher position is in innovation studies with specialization in electrification of the transportation system in the Chinese context.

The researcher will explore the status of the Chinese electrification of transportation system and its relation to development of smart cities and communities in China. This focus is on the interplay between technology, system development with social and societal development and business models for industry.

Work duties
The main duty is to conduct research in Innovation Studies, especially in an externally funded research project on the “Sweden-­‐China Bridge: Creating A Collaborative Academic Platform for Electrification of Transportation Systems”.

Detailed description of the work duties includes:

• Research within Innovation Studies, especially in the project on electrification of the transportation system
• Research in the renewable energy area related to the above.
• Building an international network between Swedish and Chinese universities and institutes in the area of electrification of transportation system.
• Writing papers, reports and presentation material
• Collaboration with Chinese and Swedish industry and wider society
• Sharing knowledge with other team members and researchers in seminars, workshops and international conferences.
• Supervision of degree projects and doctoral students
• Administration related to the work listed above.

Qualification requirements

Applicants must have:

• A PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position.
• Very good oral and written proficiency in English and in Mandarin
• Experience of extensive and deep collaboration with Chinese industry, institutes and academia.
• Demonstrated capabilities to explore and understand and to integrate the development of technology, societal and social development in China and internationally.
• Experience of working in the Chinese and in the Swedish context.
• Basic proficiency in Swedish language and basic understanding of the Swedish context.

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

Skills in intercultural understanding and capabilities to work in international settings. Driving licence and experience of driving in China.

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employment

• Fixed-term employment, 2 years, 50 %
• The employment starts as soon as possible but no later than 30.10.2020  
• The reseracher will spend time in China and in Sweden accordingly to project demands.
