About the research group

The research group for Clinical memory research conducts research in dementia. Research has been at the forefront in this area for many years, including world-leading research in Alzheimer’s disease. The group includes both researchers and technical staff, and is led by professor Oskar Hansson. The research is located at the Memory Unit in Malmö and BMC in Lund. We currently seek three student research assistants to assist in our ongoing research. Our research projects leverage an innovative approach – utilizing state-of-the-art neuroimaging at 3 and 7T as well as novel behavioral memory assessments – to examine how functional brain systems that are critically involved in episodic memory change in early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. The three positions are temporary for a period of 5 months, with preliminary starting date 1st of October and end date 28th of February 2021. 

Work duties

The selected candidate will assist in data acquisition including assistance during ultrahigh-field MRI scanning, handling of research participants and patients as well as neuropsychological assessments. The position also involves programming experimental tasks, data organisation, pre-processing and quality assessment of behavioral and neuroimaging data.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required:

  • Enrollment in a study programme in the field of psychology, cognitive neuroscience, medicine or comparable course of studies
  • Strong interest in cognitive neuroscience studies, human memory, Alzheimer’s disease and methods (data organisation, data analysis and statistics)
  • Experience in handling research participants and patients in research or a clinical context
  • Very good knowledge of English
  • Experience in (f)MRI scanning

The following personal characteristics are considered to be of major importance for the positions. You have a good ability to work in a team, are committed and flexible. You enjoy working with research participants of different age groups and patients.

The following are considered to be a merit:

  • Master student in a study programme in the field of psychology, cognitive neuroscience, medicine or comparable course of studies
  • Experience in (f)MRI analyses using SPM, FSL, Freesurfer or ANTS
  • Experience with advanced data analysis methods and statistics
  • Programming experience in R/MATLAB
  • Experience in manual segmentation of anatomical brain structures
