Subject description
Feedback control systems play a key role in realizing the hyper-reactive, highly integrated, autonomous production environments envisioned for Industry 4.0. Here, Industrial Internet-of-things (IIoT) enable plants and time-sensitive processes to contribute to and take part of larger site-wide networked systems. Our research indicates that cloud-native industrial control systems can be designed without compromising robustness and resiliency. Our main idea is to take advantage of the cloud, rather than adapting the clouds to the control systems.

The aim of this postdoc project is to take the next step, and solve the general problems of highly time-sensitive and mission-critical feedback control systems in the clouds. The project will be adapted to the background and expertize of the Postdoc. The Postdoc will work in a cross-disciplinary research environment that includes researchers and expertise in both Networking and Automatic Control. Our research is both theoretical and applied, and in close collaboration with industry partners. Research results will be validated in our testbed for control over the cloud, which means that the position requires very good proficiency in software development and cloud integration.
