The research group
At the Division of Clinical Genetics, Senior Lecturer Karolin Hansén Nord heads a research group that explores complex genetic alterations in cancer. Although a well-known phenomenon in cancer, the underlying mechanisms are largely unknown and offer one of the most challenges paradoxes in cancer biology. Dr. Hansén Nord’s research group studies this phenomenon in primary bone tumors with the purpose to find new avenues for cancer treatment.

The employment is a full time position, time limited to two years, regulated by central agreements regarding post-doctoral employments, with the desired access date on December 1st or according to agreement.
Work assignments and area of expertise
The project aims to identify acquired genetic alterations underlying the development of primary bone tumors.
The work includes bioinformatics analyses of data from massively parallel sequencing of primary tumor tissue and cell models.
Assessment criteria and other qualifications
This is a career development position primarily focused on research. The position is intended as an initial step in a career, and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their research qualifications and potential as researchers.
Particular emphasis will be placed on research skills within the subject.
For appointments to a post-doctoral position, the ability to develop and conduct high quality research and also teaching skills will be evaluated as part of the assessment criteria.
Qualifications
Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree equivalent to a PhD, within a subject related to the position, completed no more than three years before the last date for applications. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree can have been completed earlier.
Qualifications required:
Emphasis will be held at personal skills and suitability. The assignments require that you have the ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with other members of the research group and its collaborators.
Terms of employment
This is a full-time, fixed-term employment of a maximum of 2 years. The period of employment is determined in accordance with the agreement “Avtal om tidsbegränsad anställning som postdoktor” (“Agreement on fixed-term employment as a post-doctoral fellow”) between Lund University, SACO-S, OFR/S and SEKO, dated 4 September 2008.
