Work duties
The position is focused on the effects of obstacles in running water on migratory organisms (fish and mussels), which will be evaluated by eDNA techniques. RAD sequencing will be used to map how those migratory obstacles affect population genetics. The duties also include sampling of wetlands in Skåne and handling of samlples, specifically from studies on the availablility of carbon for biological processes. There will also be possibilities to assist in supervising master´s and PhD students, as well as applying for own grants and participate in publications produced by the research group. The duties also inlcude an inventory of the research front within Aquatic Ecology and a summary of possible sampling sites for research and education. Interactions with society, as well as administration connected to the duties listed above, are also inlcuded.

Qualification requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD within the subject of the position
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English
  • Documented understanding of catchment ecology and experience of advanced laboratory work including molecular methods
  • Experience of microbial analyses, as well as carbon dynamics in water
  • Ability to organise and successfully lead research projects
  • Driving licese necessary for conducting the field work

Assessment criteria and other qualifications
Ability to communicate in Swedish both orally and in written form Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, motivation and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department. Experience of planning and execution of supervision and teaching at advanced level will also be taken into consideration.

The position is 100% between 1 November – 31 December 2020.
