The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts is one of eight faculties within Lund University and includes Malmö Art Academy, Malmö Academy of Music and Malmö Theatre Academy, also Inter Arts Center and Choral Centre South. The Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts offers Bachelor and Master programs in visual art, music and drama, and various courses of different extent. The Faculty also runs third cycle (postgraduate) studies in artistic research and music education.

The position is situated at the department of Performance, Composition and Church music.

The position is limited to a period of five years.

Subject
Violin.

Subject description
To lead and develop the violin education at the Academy’s Performance programme.

Work duties

  • Teaching the violin individually and in group on a basic as well as an advanced level with a focus on western art music.
  • Jury work at admisssion tests, participating at the subject committee and similar tasks.
  • Stimulating the artistic and pedagogical development of the subject area.
  • Representing the Academy’s Performance programme within the subject area and strengthening the position of the Academy in national and international networks.
  • Working to strengthen the collaboration between the Acadamy’s Performance programme within the subject area and the wider society.
  • Initiating collaborations within Lund University and with other higher education institutions.
  • Conducting artistic development work/research within the subject area.
  • Teaching string orchestra and chamber music might also be part of the work duties.


Qualification requirements

  • A music degree on an advanced level or equivalent at a music academy or equivalent higher artistic education in music.
  • Documented artistic skills on an international level.
  • Documented teaching skills on an academic level.
  • Good command of the English language in speech and writing.
  • Five weeks of pedagogical training on an academic level or equivalent competence.

 
Assessment criteria

  • A well documented international level as an artistic performer within the subject area as soloist, chamber and orchestra musician.
  • Excellent and well documented pedagogical skills. A description of the own pedagogic methods is desirable.
  • Excellent ability to engage and arouse interest in the subject area of the position and to encourage and inspire the students to study on their own.
  • Good ability to lead and develop the subject area as well as good ability to communicate and collaborate.
  • Good ability to engage with wider society and inform about the education.


Additional qualifications
Experience of administrative and artistic assignments in music and cultural life nationally and internationally.
Experience of working in national and international networks within the subject area.
Knowledge of Nordic languages.


Additional requirements
Frequent presence at the Academy is a requirement.
