Subject description

The researcher will mainly deal research and development within today´s and next generation photoacoustic systems including signal and image processing for the characterization of the brain, the intestines and arterial blood vessels.

 

Work duties

The main duty involved is to conduct research.

 

Detailed description of the work duties:

  • Independently plan and perform research within the area of interest.
  • Active collaboration with clinical partners related to the research area
  • Supervision of Masters and PhD students
  • Actively seeking external research funding
  • Promote contacts with companies and society
  • Teaching at basic, advanced and research level
  • Possibility of pedagogical development
  • Administration related to the work duties listed above

 

Qualification requirements

Applicants must have:

  • A PhD or equivalent research qualification within the subject of the position.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Extensive experience and very high knowledge level within signal and image processing in diagnostic ultrasound.
  • Extensive experience and very high knowledge level from ultrasound beam forming.
  • Extensive experience of photoacoustic imaging
  • Extensive experience from cross-disciplinary collaborations
  • Experience in writing research proposals on the national and international level

Research excellence proved by scientific publications in journals and at conferences

 

Assessment criteria and other qualifications

  • A good ability to develop and conduct high quality research.
  • A good knowledge of Matlab, LabVIEW and Python and other relevant programming languge
  • A good knowledge of how to design, perform and evaluate experiments.

 

Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, drive and independence, and how the applicant’s experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

 

Terms of employment

This is a 60% part-time permanent position.
