The research group
The laboratory of RNA and Stem Cell Biology, led by associate senior lecturer Cristian Bellodi, is embedded within the Lund Stem Cell Center, an internationally ranked research center within the strategic areas of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at Lund University, Scandinavia’s largest institution for education and research. Our research focuses on new facets of gene expression control in stem and cancer cell at a molecular, cellular and organismal level. Specifically, we are interested in the molecular basis by which RNA modifications regulate gene expression in during development and in cancer.

Within the group we aim to maintain a good working environment based on mutual respect and consideration. We constantly strive to improve the conditions for work, development and participation for all employees.
The employment is a full time position, time limited to two years, regulated by central agreements regarding post-doctoral employments, with the desired access date on January 1st 2021, or according to agreement.
Work assignments and area of expertise
The overarching goal of the project is to study the function of RNA modifying enzymes in stem and cancer cells. Our laboratory has recently discovered new roles for RNA pseudouridine modifications in control of small RNAs impacting protein synthesis and stem cell differentiation. The specific aims are: (1) characterize the molecular machinery responsible for biogenesis and function of stem cell- associated small RNAs, (2) unravel regulatory pathways governing specific RNA pseudouridine synthases in stem and cancer cells and (3) study the in vivo effects of altered RNA modifications.
