The Research Group

The Developmental Hematopoiesis group is part of Lund Stem Cell Center, an internationally ranked research center within the strategic research area of stem cell biology and regenerative medicieny at Lund University. In the laboratry, headed by Professor David Bryder, we study both normal and malignanat blood cell development from the perspectives of cell and molecular biology. We are now looking for a project assistant for a full time position, time-limited to 1 year, with the desired access date on February 1, 2021, or by agreement.

Work duties and area of expertise

To complement the research group and its research projects, we are currently looking for a project assistant within the area of genomics, and in particular with the handling of various types of high throughput sequencing data generated in the laboratory. The work will mainly involve informatics, although the candidate should also be able to acknowledge/comprehend the workflows involved in generating he data to be analyzed.

Qualifications

The position requires:

  • Master's degree in a relevant biomedical discipline, involving calculation and statistical methods
  • Be familiar with basic molecular biological tools (including Crispr / Cas9)
  • Documented experience and interest in medical science
  • Have the ability to read and extract information from relevant scientific articles
  • Documented knowledge in R and Python programming
  • Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken

Great emphasis will be placed on personal qualities. The position requires that you have the ability to work independently and have a good ability to collaborate. The applicant must have an ability to interact with other people, including a desire to communicate her/his expertise to students and post-docs in order to bring the projects forward.
