Work duties
The research is focused on determining the composition of the microbiota and quantification of selected species in samples from clinical and experimental trials and in food samples.

Quantification of specific bacterial groups will be done by selective media, quantitative PCR and Sanger sequencing. Evaluation of the bacterial diversity in complex communities and species identification will be analyzed using Next Generation Sequencing and bioinformatics. For detection of toxins and toxic genes, spectrophotometry and quantitative PCR will be applied. The work duties also include laboratory assistance in courses. 

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree or equivalent degree in food technology and food engineering.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of Illumina MiSeq.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of quantitative PCR.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of Qiime bioinformatic platform.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of Sanger sequencing analysis software e.g. BLAST.
  • Knowledge and practical experience of basic microbiological methods such as culturing.

Terms of employment
Fixed-term employment, 1 year, 50%.
