Technology and Society encompasses multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary studies of the role of technology, its interplay with and importance in different sectors of society. The research is characterised by its use of a diversity of methods and theories from engineering as well as the social sciences and other perspectives. The specialisation sustainable industry is focused on the efficient use and conversion of energy in the industrial sector - involving the whole energy chain from natural resource to energy service, into environmental impact of the use of different forms of energy and renewable resources, and into intervention strategies for managing and preventing problems associated with the environment, safety and development. The research field has a tradition of interdisciplinary collaborations within Lund University as well as with exernal partners.
